At Soul Lift, we believe that fitness starts with love. Most importantly, it starts with self-love and believing in yourself. We also believe that exercise should be an avenue for personal development and spiritual growth. I've worked in the fitness industry for many years, and I've spent a lot of time observing different fads and talking with different people. What I've learned is that changing a lifestyle and getting in shape is a very complex process. While it sounds simple enough to eat less and move more, the process is filled with several other complicated layers that often get brushed under the rug. Soul Lift programs were created to address every dimension of transformation. Too many people have failed because of the mental struggles that hold us back. Things like negative thinking patterns, self-doubt, stress, emotional eating, anxiety and depression all play a role in your journey to a healthier lifestyle. We go beyond your conventional workout program and dig deep to break down barriers and shed your "mental fat."
After a suicide attempt in 2011, I hit rock bottom. Everything felt hopeless until I found my world of fitness. I started with long distance running, then started showing up to every fitness class in the city and doing everything I could to move my body. I found that movement was the best medicine and I decided that fitness would always be a centerpiece in my life. I've been helping people ever since. Your greatest strength comes from your greatest struggle. I consider myself a very lucky person, because my greatest struggle gave me my greatest gift. That gift is you and the trust you give me to become a part of your story and the opportunity to see you live your best life.

“Amanda was my first personal trainer. I started out not only over weight but barely strong enough to lift 10 pounds or even walk up stairs without being winded. I am proud to say with Amanda’s encouragement plus lots of cardio and strength training, I recently ran my first half marathon and I can deadlift 165 pounds. Amanda listens, makes adjustments and revises workouts to push you while also giving you a sense of accomplishment. She always has a smile and is genuinely interested in your overall health and wellbeing. My workouts were varied and I never got bored. Amanda also was strong in helping me set gym goals and working with me to reach them. The belief in myself that I gained while working with Amanda is because of her inspiration, caring and heartfelt belief in my success. Be prepared because Amanda will help you change your life and you will be all the better for it.” –Janella Franklin, Washington, DC
“You'd be crazy not to want Amanda as your trainer! Amanda is the most dedicated trainer I've had in a long time. Her routines are great and always adapted to your individual needs. She always has a smile to offer and her passion to help people out is self-evident. Most importantly, with Amanda it is not about being beautiful or conforming to a certain beauty type. For her, everything is about being healthy and happy. We trained together for two years. I miss her so much here in Washington, DC.” –Andrea Saldarriaga, Washington, DC
“Amanda helped me get in shape for my wedding. Thanks to her I had great arms and shoulders for my strapless dress. In addition to making me look good, Amanda was really fun to work with. After the first few sessions I wasn't working out with my trainer, I was working out with my friend. Even after I got married, I kept seeing Amanda. Partly because I wanted to keep up the good work she'd done, but also because I would have missed seeing her (at 6 am). I can't recommend her enough!” –Katherine Curley, Chevy Chase, MD
“I worked with Amanda for over 3 years and only stopped because she moved. During that time Amanda helped me get back into the routine of working out. I went from barely being able to run 10 minutes to completing my first 10 mile race. She did a great job of encouraging me to push forward to make gains and listening when my body needed time to recover. Her genuine enthusiasm for physical fitness really helped get me out of bed on those early mornings. Thanks to Amanda I can now lift heavy things, run from danger (if need be) and I know how to do it all with proper form.” –Iris Heise, Washington, DC
“Amanda is absolutely the best trainer I've ever had. She was the first trainer to truly get me excited about fitness and my health. She helped me go from almost no exercise to 3 days a week at the gym. Due to her persistence, amazing personality and cheerfulness, she made each training session the best it could be. She tailored the workouts around what I needed but also kept it exciting, rotating and changing things up when needed. After many years of training with her, she moved to California and it was a very sad day. The best recommendation I can give is that I would still be training with her if she were still in DC. Her knowledge, skills, and education are simply the best!” – Robert Gladstone, Washington, DC
“Working out with Amanda was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had polio at age 12, and use a wheelchair. I walked with crutches for years and was very strong then, but I gradually lost that strength over the years of using a chair. Working out with Amanda, I regained a lot of upper-body strength. She combined stretching with strength and that was good, too. I enjoyed every minute of it. She constantly figured out new things I could do sitting down." -Gay Gullickson, Washington, DC
